St. Xavier’s College

St. Xavier’s College, Kathmandu, is a Jesuit institution of higher learning, managed by the Nepal Jesuit Society. The Jesuits began their educational work in Nepal in 1951, establishing several schools across the country. With a tradition of service since 1540, Jesuit education fosters critical thinking, positive action, and social responsibility. Committed to shaping future leaders, the college encourages students to be job creators and visionary contributors to Nepal’s progress.

Challenge

St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar, needed a structured training program to develop leadership skills in their full-time teaching staff. They wanted to build a pipeline of future leaders but weren’t sure what kind of training was required.

Solution:

I conducted a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) to analyze skill gaps, which included document reviews, surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. Based on this, we designed a 3-credit training course that covered leadership, strategic planning, and professional development.

Key Achievements:

• Developed a structured 3-credit leadership training program
• Implemented assessments after each module to measure progress
• Participants created strategic plans for their departments, approved by management
• Successfully completed the first cohort over six months, with a second cohort in planning.
